Tullia’s Jewels: Modern and Ancient Adornments

Wedding Rings!

We’re getting married on the beach in Florida next week, just family, very low KEY (hahaha sorry not sorry!)

Art Show 12/9

Save the date! My jewelry was accepted for the Walters Cultural Center December Artisan Pop-Up, Tuesday, 12/9, 5–8 pm. 150 E. Main Street, Hillsboro, OR.

The Ring Thing

My new friend Kimberly makes these amazing little cases to protect your rings. Watertight, and they float! It comes with a sturdy clip for your bag or backpack, and a black velvet pouch. Available in red, blue, pink, white, and black. Here at my office, and I’ll take them to shows!

Commission completed

This piece incorporates a key motif with a jet stone. I made the bail large because it’s going onto his 3mm chain. Below are some progress pics.

Burro ring for my Bestie

Kate has a farm stocked with chickens, goats, a livestock guardian dog, cats, and a curly pony, who was a free ranging mustang until she was captured by the Bureau of Land Management. This absolutely wild creature, who had zero exposure to humans except for her helicopter roundup, branding, and corral containment, has been utterly…

Cuff bracelet

Made from King Edward flatware by Gorham, dates from 1936.

Carnelian Ivy Leaf ring

I love how this carnelian glows in the sunlight! Carnelian was, of course, hugely popular in the ancient Egyptian and Roman Empires. It symbolizes courage, health, and luck.

Desert Scorpions

This was beyond my skill set when I started it 4 yrs ago, but I picked it back up today and successfully soldered all the big, small, and tricky (twisted wire) bits together! It’s a fidget piece- the stone moves a little but will not fall out due to the sturdy slanted walls.

Ode to Oregon

Sunstone, sterling silver, jeweler’s brass. Who doesn’t love Sasquatch?

Today’s finished fun

Maple leaf earrings in two flavors: Faceted garnet and cabochon malachite. Two rings, one lily and one with a pink tourmaline. All sterling silver, of course.

Belemnite fossil ring sz 13

Belemnites were marine animals belonging to the phylum Mollusca and the class Cephalopoda. Their closest living relatives are squid and cuttlefish. They had a squid-like body but, unlike modern squid, they had a hard internal skeleton – which you can see in this fossil! Belemnites lived during the periods of Earth history known as the…

Snakeskin Jasper Bracelet

Another piece inspired by the stones. I actually made this a year ago, but never posted it, and today it found a new home. The hand-fabricated tongue and toggle never cease to tickle me. Rustic sterling silver links holding snakeskin jasper cabochons.

Lapidary work

The first one has an opal inclusion, and I set that off with a little fiery moonstone. The second one got a spiral wrap with faceted garnet and citrine.

“Wood” elemental ring

I did a series of the Traditional Chinese Medicine five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) for an event at my acupuncture alma mater. A friend and practitioner wanted the wood one turned into a ring: Here it is in sterling and jeweler’s brass.

Hawk Bracelet

This was a commission, one of a kind. Sterling silver and brass.

Braided Sweetgrass

I had a profoundly beautiful evening with amazing women about a week ago. We had all been together in Nicaragua for a continuing education retreat focused on embodiment in February. It had only been two months, but somehow it felt like a year. All of us had experienced shifts in our lives and ways of…

More Magic Ring Holders

Video here! You can store your rings quickly and safely on your necklace without having to deal with the clasp!

Petite Pendants

$130 each. Moonstone & amethyst, and snow agate, in silver. The snow agate is clear with white inclusions (similar to moss agate) and backed with blue acrylic to create a sky with happy puffy clouds.

Lighthouse Beach

There’s a lighthouse on the back! I did the lapidary work on the stone, too! $300 Fluorite and sterling silver.

Baroque Bracelet

This ornate cuff bracelet was made from two antique sterling silver butter knives. $150.

Mexico, ¡Dos!

I suppose I should have mentioned that I bought two big pieces of silver sheen obsidian in Chapala, and quite a few opals.

Big gorgeous mystery – Size 12.75!

This stone was sold to me as tanzanite, but it doesn’t shift colors and I have my doubts. It’s a gorgeous cornflower blue, and probably synthetic quartz. Sterling silver, of course. Size 12.75US, $130.

Mexico

I visited some ex-pat friends living in Mexico, just outside Guadalajara. That area, like Oregon, is rife with obsidian and opals, although they look different from ours. I couldn’t resist buying some rocks from the locals. Silver sheen obsidian and opal mounted in sterling silver. You really have to see it in person to appreciate…

Star Wars

Yes, I’m a geek. I was raised on sci-fi and never let go! Let me know which one matches your space style!

Magic Ring Holders

Imagine you want to take your rings off for a bit – to wash dishes, to garden, to give a massage – and hang them on your necklace. These let you do that without unclasping the chain! Video here (please note I’m trying to move away from Etsy, but I do have a variety in…

Solar System necklace

This was actually one of my very first soldering projects* and you can read the full story here! *it shows, on the back… 🙂

Unique designs

Here are some of my one-of-a-kind pieces, just because I enjoyed making them. Still available: Molotov cocktail, brass with chain, $40. All others were commissions or have already been sold.

PacNW

I love living in the Pacific NorthWest! Inspiration is all around me, and there are gorgeous local stones to use! Beach finds, as made by nature. No human interference needed. Some beach pebbles just scream to be mounted “as is.” This bold, rustic ring is available ($50). The agate below is translucent, and catches the…

Mobius magic

A Mobius strip has only one side… if you trace your finger along it, you will come back to the starting point! I took advantage of this concept by stamping a musical round on one. “Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream… merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream…” and you’re…

Libyan Desert Glass

Libyan Desert Glass or Great Sand Sea glass is an impactite, found in areas in the eastern Sahara, in the deserts of eastern Libya and western Egypt. It’s formed when the heat of a meteorite strike melts the surrounding sand, and pairs well with copper. Above, I added a Mookite jasper dangle ($140). Below, an Oregon agate ($120). I made the one below…

Gathering of the Guilds

Every year, the Gathering of the Guilds show is an amazing showplace. Talented makers bring their unique best – it’s a massive outpouring of talent, and admission is FREE! I’ve been attending (and buying) for years, but this is my first time as a presenter! Wood, glass, ceramic, and fiber artists will have booths, along…

Heartbroken

A sudden divorce left me hurt and adrift… Art therapy to the rescue! By the time I finished these 4 pieces, most of my anger had dissipated. A year later, I’m now happily living my best life. 🙂 I believe the 6th stage of grief is “Recovery and Growth!” $75 each.

Halloween!!

My favorite season, decorated with delightful creepy crawlies! Carnelian “candy corn” earrings, with and without silly dangles. Rainbow obsidian witch! Hypersthene spider!

Consent

A dear friend gave me some faceted glass gems to play with. They were practice pieces, made by a family member who had been teaching himself gemcutting, using discarded traffic light glass (they were being replaced with LEDs). These two pieces – named “Consent” – were quickly born. One went back to the family, and…

Christmas jingles

I made this pair of sturdy mistletoe hairsticks for someone who wanted to be eminently kissable at a holiday party. The holly hairpin was destined for a similarly festive updo. From a pair of vintage sterling silver spoons, I made THREE pairs of earrings! Check out the amazing detail in the candlestick atop the mantel!…

Secret Backstories

Many of my pieces have detailing on the back. I leave it up to the new owner to keep it secret, or share the full story with their friends. The images are either hand-sawn by me, or come from antique sterling silver spoons. Some I would consider reversible! “Dear” family “Lovebirds” with cedar: This one…

Fidgets for ADHD folks

I was enjoying lunch with a friend when the topic turned to a stressful one. As he talked, he systematically shredded the corner of a finger. I resolved to give people a healthier (and prettier) way to “stim” – spinner rings and pendants meant to be played with. The brass necklace provides a unique texture…

Picture Perfect

When I was a kid, my mother had a pendant that – to me – looked like a desert scene. After seeing the first Star Wars movie, it became Tatooine to me, and I could almost see C3P0 and R2D2 making their way in the sand to the “building” on the left. Just a few…

Sommelier Cups

Some of my friends in the SCA are brewers, or hang out with brewers who throw parties. SCA culture includes wearing large medallions to show off your awards and individual heraldry. I combined these two ideas to create tasting cups in sterling silver, with personalized imagery.

Ancient Roman Roots

I love living history, and have been portraying a 50BC Roman matron since 2013. I researched clothing, food, daily, life, and jewelry… I’d been making wire adornments since high school, so I started there. (by the way if you’re curious about the security earwires or history of this style, see my paper here) …but I…

Sasquatch Spoon pendant

Bigfoot casually strolling through the Pacific Northwest woods. Sterling silver spoon (Whiting, Duke of York pattern, circa 1900), brass and sterling silver accents, citrine, with playful texturing. Bail has a 3mm diameter.

Ukrainian Fundraiser

I made three pieces and auctioned them off, donating the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders operating in Ukraine. These sunflower earrings… And these pendants, meant to symbolize the bright spirit of the Ukranian people against the dark backdrop of war (one on all brass, one in blackened silver and brass). All together I raised $365.

ATTN: Treehuggers

I recently completed a commission for the wonderful Finn Grim, featuring a ceramic Pelican and his “blasted and eradicated tree” heraldry on the back. Due to a screw-up, I made two! The other one is now available at a steep discount. It can stay eradicated, or I can cut it out further to make a…

Spoons, Interrupted

Above: Garnet floral spoon pendant $80. Horizontal necklace with amethyst $120. Why spoons? Many reasons…First, think about a wealthy home in the late 1800s- early 1900s. You may recall scenes in books or movies where “the silver” was mentioned, either because a desperate servant ran off with it, or because the household fell on hard times…
