Kate has a farm stocked with chickens, goats, a livestock guardian dog, cats, and a curly pony, who was a free ranging mustang until she was captured by the Bureau of Land Management. This absolutely wild creature, who had zero exposure to humans except for her helicopter roundup, branding, and corral containment, has been utterly won over by Kate. No surprise to me… she’s a Disney Princess type in that animals instantly love and trust her. She’s very UN-princessy in that she wears farm clothes and rejects makeup and jewelry. I was so excited that she wanted this! I saw a sales listing for a souvenir spoon with a tiny burro on it and sent her a pic (Kate adores mules, donkeys, and burros). She immediately asked me to make her a ring. She chose an open wrap style instead of a soldered ring in case it gets caught on something – as you can see, her hands work hard. I love her so much.
